Lake Hume-Ti-Pin (which translates as "grizzly bitten") offers a relaxing atmosphere to camp, picnic, fish, and boat in the Blue Mountains southeast of Pendleton, Oregon. At an elevation of 4,200 feet, the Indian Lake Recreation Area lies near the crest of the Blue Mountains.
Camping season is open May 15 to September 30. A public drinking water system is operational during the camping season, but is shut down during the off-season.
No electricity is available at Indian Lake, but 43 campsites with firepits and a central RV disposal station offer some conveniences for overnight campers. Campsite reservations are suggested during the busy summer months.
Rainbow trout are stocked annually at the 80-acre lake to provide angling action throughout the season. A Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation fishing permit is required and may be purchased at the lake or at many other local license outlets.
Boats (electric motors only) are welcome.
The Indian Lake Fish Derby is always held on the day before Father's Day each year, with a grand prize going to the fisher with the largest fish of the day. Lots of other fun and prizes help make the annual event a success, especially with the locals.
Indian Lake is operated by the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla
Indian Reservation.
